mom calls me
"why is there a county circut court letter addressed to you on my table?"

"I have no idea"

"well, did you get a ticket?" (in that mommy tone like "what did you do wrong!)

"No," I say, worried. "could it be my voter registration card?"

"maybe, do you want me to open it?"

"Yes, mom, is something wrong, I'm worried now, open it"

"you got pulled for jury duty"

And I have to sit all day at court during jury duty.
